Abstract: This final rule expands the existing Russian River Valley viticultural area (27 CFR 9.66) by 14,044 acres and the existing Northern Sonoma viticultural area (27 CFR 9.70) by 44,244 acres in Sonoma County, California. TTB designates viticultural areas to allow vintners to better describe the origin of their wines and to allow consumers to better identify wines they may purchase. This final rule is effective on December 16, 2011.
